Aljaž Days
The event, with more than 30 years of tradition, was created at the initiative of some locals when the statue of Jakob Aljaž was erected in 1989, on the hundredth anniversary of Aljaž's arrival in Dovje.
The priest and national awakener left an indelible mark in our region. Every year, many associations together with the Slovenian Mountaineering Museum prepare a multi-day cultural event in memory of this great Slovenian.
Village evening
It is an ethnological event that is almost three decades old and combines tradition and fun. It was created on the initiative of France Voga, a long-time tourist and cultural worker, writer and great lover of our places. It takes place at the beginning of July on the square in the middle of the village of Dovje, in front of the former Pr' Katr forge. Usually, the organizers show some old, almost forgotten peasant custom, followed by a celebration with folk music, folklore and the Upper Carniola traditional costumes. Drinks and food are provided.
Frozen Kingdom
Every December, the Mlačca-Mojstrana Ice Climbers' Club puts on either a live performance of The Living Nativity in ice or the frozen ice kingdom . The Holy Family and the Nativity scene are of course never missing. In the glow of the lanterns, whose light is refracted in the ice sculptures, the gorge is transformed into a fairytale, and visitors come from near and far to see its icy beauties.
Theater in nature: A journey along the paths of Triglav fairy tales
The ‘theatre in nature’ description is used for a live-action animated narrative based on the Triglav Fairy Tales, written almost a century ago by the writer Mirko Kunčič, based on the folk traditions of the Triglav region. By prior arrangement, a guided walking tour takes you through Mojstrana and Dovje, meeting fairytale characters along the way and learning a lot about our region in a fun and entertaining way.
