There are two different ferratas to choose from. Both can be accessed in very short distances. A good view of the two is shown at the Slovenian Alpine Museum. The first ferrata (Aljaž’s path) is easier and is classified as difficulty B. It is 300 m long and suitable for those who are still getting used to the rocky world. The other ferrata (the path of the Mojstrana Squirrels) is more difficult and classified C/D, 250 m long, suitable for those who already have some experience in this sport. The ferrata requires knowledge and physical strength. Both ferratas lead us to the top of Grančišče, from where we are struck first by the view of the nearby Julian Alps and the Karavanke Mountains. The way down follows a signposted footpath, almost to the starting point.
We recommend a basic mountaineering kit to climb the ferrata: helmet, climbing harness, self-protection system. The equipment can also be rented at the Slovenian Alpine Museum.
