Cycling

Mojstrana is an excellent starting point for cycling along one of the most beautiful bicycle trails in Upper Carniola.

It runs from Jesenice to the Rateče border crossing, for a total length of about 28 km. From here you can either continue into Italy towards Tarvisio, past Camporosso to Pontebba or, just turn left just after the border and follow the path leading to Laghi di Fusine. The bicycle trail runs along the former route of the railway line, which was closed in 1966.

It provides beautiful views of the valley surroundings, and there are resting spots along the way, including ones where you can enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. The bicycle trail is an asphalt road, with traffic in two directions, but it is not very wide, so be careful, as not only cyclists, but also joggers, skateboarders, mums with strollers, pedestrians, and farm machinery may use it. The starting point for the Mojstrana bicycle trail is a large car park at the village end, next to the former timber factory. There is also a bikers’ cafeteria called Sonček, where you can have a refreshment before starting or after finishing your bike ride.

There is also a cycle path along the Radovna valley, equipped with information boards informing visitors about the cultural heritage. This route is very popular among cyclists because of its beautiful and unspoilt nature.
