From it, there is a beautiful view of the peaks above the Vrata Valley. Follow the road in the direction of Vrata and drive along it for only a short time, park in the parking lot by the road just a few metres further on.
Vrtaška planina, Gašper Zima
The path ascends moderately at first and in a few minutes brings us to a crossroads, where we continue straight on (the path to the right leads to the Grančišče lookout point). The path ahead is very steep and runs through the forest. After a hike of an hour and a half, the incline eases and the path switches to avalanche slopes. Crossing a wide artificial ledge guarded by a fence follows (the fence is there to guard livestock), from which a beautiful view of the surrounding peaks opens up. A little higher up, the steepness eases, and crossing a grazing fence brings us within a few minutes of walking to Vrtaška planina, where we see a shepherd’s hut to the right. We can extend the hike to Vrtaški vrh (1,898 m) and from there on to Sleme (2,077 m).
