Slovenian Alpine Museum

The Slovenian Alpine Museum opened in 2010. The distinctive building resembles the shape of a high-mountain shelter

It is located slightly outside Mojstrana to the left of the road in the direction of the Vrata Valley.

The past and present hold hands at the Slovenian Alpine Museum. A rich collection of artifacts with a diverse historical narrative, a variety of photographic and archival material, and an extensive professional library offer visitors an insight into the multitude and importance of mountaineering activities in Slovenia. The permanent exhibition is designed as a museum narrative, which is experienced through the visitor’s own climb up the mountain. Permanent and temporary exhibitions, events and activities are aimed at socialising, education, culture and learning in the spirit of mountaineering and tourism.
