This is the church where the parish priest Jakob Aljaž served for 38 years.
It was built at the beginning of the 14th century and its architectural style is mixed, as the church has been rebuilt many times throughout history. There are traces of Gothic architecture visible, and in 1829 it was rebuilt in the neo-Renaissance style and covered in shingles. The tabernacle is basically preserved in Gothic style. In the sacristy, a beautiful fresco depicting the crucifixion of Jesus was discovered. Its age is unknown, and it has been partially restored.
The cemetery which surrounds the Church of St Michael in Dovje is beautifully landscaped. It consists of both old and new section and forms part of the local cultural heritage, as there are graves of historically accomplished people in the fields of sport and mountaineering.
